Who Needs a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Registry?

The guest of honor: How many Kiddush cups can one person use? Didn't they know I'm a Yankees fan? I like the Jonas Brothers .  The Suite Life is so yesterday.

The Invitees: Let's face it there are only four categories of people who are invited to parties.

1. You're a member of the family: You are Mishpocha and you really want to get the Bar/Bat Mitzvah something they'll treasure forever.

2. You are a close friend of the parents:  You would like to express how much you value their friendship. If you don't know what to buy, you can always ask the parents.

3. You are a business contact: You or your husband are  co-workers of the parents and you know little if anything about the guest of honor and appreciate having a place where they registered.

4. You have no idea why they invited you: Maybe you carpooled with them ages ago, maybe your husband sits near him in the Temple, and don't even feel comfortable enough to ask anyone.
